Discuss the following:
- Imagine that a candidate offered to buy someone's vote for $100. Imagine that voter generally doesn't pay much attention to politics and would be very happy to make $100 for the five minutes of effort required to cast a vote for the candidate buying her vote. Should this be allowed? What if the candidate has a fleet of busses picking up thousands of people and paying them all $100 to vote for her? If someone wants to buy a vote and someone wants to sell a vote, should they be free to so? Why or why not?
- The video describes the process whereby corporations spend billions of dollars supporting candidates that favor corporate interests. Is this different from buying votes? How exactly? Is this sort of campaign financing bad for the country, good for the country, or neutral?
