In the European Middle Ages there was a strong tendency for religious persons to despise human affairs and to meditate on God and the afterlife. As a reaction to this medieval tendency, secularism, at the time of the Renaissance, exhibited itself in the development of humanism, when people began to show more interest in human cultural achievements and the possibilities of their fulfillment in this world. Use the two documents below (Renaissance Reading and Questions) to understand how the Renaissance began. They take the information you learned and create a graphic organizer (flow chart or cause and effect chart) to show the information visually. Finally you will take a summative where you will have to write a response to the question: What was the Renaissance and why did the Renaissance begin?
You will need to print all three of the documents below.
